My dreaming experiences

I have this very weird habit of sleeping all the time on my off days..... What a lazy way to spend a day? I mean of course I don't sleep for 24 hrs...but around 13-14 hours is an average if I don't have some other work to do.

There is a very good reason behind my oversleeping...During all those extra hours that my 'mind' (and body for that matter) does not need relaxation, I make it a point to let it (my mind) wander freely. I often enjoy the pattern my mind follows during that time and thus am able to weed out the negativities that I carry during my working days. Though I try to address the problems that have their roots somewhere deep inside, I am not always successful in eliminating them completely and those negetivities keep coming again and again. But in spite of that I feel very free...

Though many researches and studies have indicated that oversleeping is not good for health, with due respect to them it has never caused me any problem...in fact it has solved many of my problems. Some may consider it a waste of time and others may regard it a baseless theory...but it works for me and may work for others if they try to see it from my perspective.

One of my friend Nidhi Singal, who posted her comments in my blog argued, that 'mind never stops thinking and our subconscious mind dominates our sensibilities.' She also added there is nothing like 'training' our mind. Nidhi is very correct when she says that mind never stops working. When our active mind is well asleep, the subconscious mind starts working and take the liberty to get creative...and thus we see dreams....But I must tell you Nidhi that the story does not end here...it goes on and on and on....

See, I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist, I am just an ordinary person who's talking about dreams without even knowing any theories of dream...I am only sharing my experiences with you so that I can learn from your 'dream-experiences' too. Anyway, we can and we have to train our mind for solving some greatest mysteries of the time and believe me Nidhi I am not saying this just for the sake of saying..

So, let me share some of the 'trainings' that I have given to my mind...

1) Meeting my relatives in dreams: When I was about 8 years old, I was very attached to my relatives in dehradun...of course since I live in Delhi...I could meet them only occasionally...I found out a way out by including them in my dreams everyday "manually". Here manually means by efforts or training. I had to control my dreams for that and it sometimes got very hectic. It was then when I realised that I could construct my own dreams and weave my own world of imagination. It was fun.

2) Me and my bicycle: When I was around 10-12 years old, I wanted to learn riding bicycle. I didn't know it. Since I was extremely introvert I could't request anyone to teach me that. Around that period I regularly dreamt of cycling across my whole society. I enjoyed it to the core. Then slowly to my surprise, I learnt it on my own. Once I could ride the cycle in reality, I stopped constructing that dream.

3) Learning to fly: I fear heights in real life. Whenever I look down from the balcony of my third floor apartment (even though it's not much high), I am petrified. Something strange happens to me. For many years, this fear of height continued to haunt me in my dreams. I used to fall from a height in my dreams only to find me shouting and my mom asking why i am sweating. I soon realised that it was a dream and whatever has to happen will happen anyway..so why fear. It was then when I started constructing my own dreams on falling from a height and even flying. I actually started enjoying falling from a very high building in my dreams from then onwards. I have also been flying in my dreams after few unsuccessful attempts. In the beginning, my mind was not programmed for flying..so i used to fall when I jumped to fly up. Slowly, I instructed my mind to fly. Now i can fly very high without fear of falling down. That was an achievement for me.

There are many things that I can do in my dreams. If you can do the same, please share your experiences with me....And if you have never been doing it then you can atleast give it a try...
