The 'dream-maker'

When was the last time you found yourself helpless in your dream.....weeping....even dying to come out of that dream? You might have been relieved after you woke up and must have resumed your day by saying- "comeone it was just another dream." But did you try to find out ever what the dream signified...or what your sub-conscious mind was trying to tell you. I bet most of the people laugh off their dreams as mere khurafaat of mind.

Like Apoorv and Nishu (my friends who posted comment on my first post), many of you must have been wonderning how the world of dreams works. While Apoorv feels that dreams often help us to solve day to day problems to some extent, if not totally, Nishu finds the 'trip to the dreamy island far precious than otherwise cruel life.' Very true, that's the very magic of the dream-world.

I talked about 'construction of dreams' in my previous post. Well, I accept that I make my own dreams..not always but whenever I feel like...For this, I have to train my mind for several days to seek permission from my sub-conscious mind to do my bit of work on dreams..I must tell you that sub-conscious mind is very strong. It always tries to control your dreams. But for ruling your dreams, you must have a great imagination. Chances of constructing your dreams increase when you have a strong desire to do something that you cannot do in reality...For example- flying....Can you fly in reality?..of course not....can you fly in your dreams?..yes of course...

But how?

Well, let's take my own example. It has now been six years since I am flying..not in reality of course. But mind you, I had to learn how to fly even in dreams..So you have to learn everything you see. As far as construction of dreams is concerned, I have been doing that for 12-13 years now. May be I don't strive to achieve things in real life and those hidden desires take the form of dreams....but I am sure that's not the sole reason behind by creativity as a 'dream-maker.'

How do I make dreams?

Well, it's a little difficult to explain, but let me try. What if in the middle of the film Devdas (Sanjay Leela Bhansali's) , Paro suddenly says- hey I am Aishwarya Rai, what am I doing here? I need no director, I want to meet my Devdas. Similarly, in our dreams, if we suddenly discover that the situations are phoney and not real, while still asleep, then we can add our own inputs to the dreams and become a 'dream-maker.'

Let us take another example...You are being chased by a monster in a dream..you are terrified to bits and you just want to run away from that situation...Now suddently you realise that this whole thing was a dream. What would you do? Would you let your subconscious mind rule over your dream or decide to give a twist to the dream? Ok, suppose you want to give twist to your dream. Here the role of your strong imagination starts. Now you know that the monster is not real, it's just the product of your sub-conscious mind's creativity. Then, why fear? You can do something as bizarre as talking to him about India-Us nuclear deal. Or if you choose to do something more creative, then you can actually kill the monster with a secret power you just discovered you have. It depends whether you love action films, soap operas or talk shows.

Do dreams speak..?

Friends... you all must be wondering what this blog is all about.....hmm...dreams! But do they deserve discussion? Afterall what's so special about them? You wake up and forget about the experience you have gone through the whole night. They are like scattered pieces of your thoughts that make you laugh, cry, scream, fear, enjoy....They are the regular part of your life but still you are unable to relate with them.

Now...let's do some reality check...Are our dreams so unreal that we cannot infer anything from them...or we simply ignore them just because we don't have time to ponder over their meaning...Well, I believe that nothing in this world is 'without a reason.' And I sincerely believe that dreams do indicate something that we don't understand until we train our mind to go beyond the usual....

Ever thought of constructing your own dreams...I bet, most of you have not. But can we really construct our dreams? The answer is yes, we can. Just like poetry, stories, articles...dreams can also be made and you can play with your subconscious mind while you are asleep.

So, the next time, while watching your favourite Harry Potter movie, just remember that if you really want, you can weave this magic world inside you...

We'll discuss in the next post what dreams try to tell us and also how to construct dreams....

Till then...I am waiting for your responses...Tell me even if I sounded silly in this article..Afterall if you have read my article this far, you surely would be eager to know...what next?
